Mullugeta Muntasha grew up in the village of Bursa,
which, until recently, did not cultivate coffee. In his
youth, he traveled to the neighboring Arsi region,
where he worked as a truck driver, transporting
coffee cherries from collection centers to private
washing stations. Through this experience, he gained
valuable knowledge of the coffee industry and
eventually became a coffee collector in Arsi,
supplying beans to the central market.

Over time, and with the support of the Agricultural
Office, farmers in his hometown of Bursa began
planting coffee. In 2021, Mullugeta returned to
Bursa and established his own drying station, named
Dawencho. That same year, he won 2nd place in the
Cup of Excellence with coffee from the Dawencho
farmer group, and 6th place with his own lot,
branded under his name, Mullugeta Muntasha.

In 2022, Mullugeta’s influence in the coffee
community continued to grow, as four of the top 10
Cup of Excellence winners were from his farms. One
of these top winners was Legesse Botola, Mullugeta’s
brother-in-law, who processed his coffee at
Mullugeta’s washing station, located next to
Mullugeta’s own farm.
