More About the Maker:East End Press was founded in Glasgow in 2015 by designer and printmaker Ellie Hodesdon — and from the very beginning, the brief was simple: make beautiful, sustainable, joyful things that add something interesting and colorful to your home. Every piece is screen printed by hand, first in Glasgow and now also in Jaipur, India, where Ellie traveled in 2018 to find printmakers who could keep up with demand without compromising on craft or values. She found a family. They're still there.
The sustainability story behind East End Press is one of the most thorough we've encountered. No plastic — ever. Recycled cotton paper and FSC certified wood throughout. AZO-free, non-toxic inks. Half the Jaipur studio runs on solar energy. An electric van moves materials between units. A closed-loop water system means no new water is used and no dirty water is ever released — it's collected, cleaned, and reused continuously. Every manufacturer in the chain is Fair Trade certified and independently audited by SEDEX. Beautiful things, made right.
