Miels d'Anicet began with a single hive in 1978, when Marie-Claude Dupuis and Claude Desrochers fell in love with beekeeping in the wild Hautes-Laurentides region of Quebec — 275 kilometers north of Montreal, at the foot of Montagne du Diable, in a landscape of natural meadows, forests, lakes, and rivers completely free from intensive agriculture. Their children grew up with bees, inherited the apiary, and built Miels d'Anicet at the turn of the millennium into one of Canada's most extraordinary honey operations — 1,200 hives tended with deep ecological knowledge and genuine reverence for the bee. The honey changes with the seasons, reflecting the extraordinary floral diversity of the region — dandelion and black cherry in spring, linden and raspberry in summer, goldenrod and aster in autumn. Each jar is raw, unfiltered, and unmistakably alive. Their honey hot sauce takes that same summer honey and pairs it with habanero peppers and organic carrots from a neighboring farm — spicy, fruity, aromatic, and balanced in exactly the way that only something handmade at the source can be.
