How Block Shop Makes it's Napkins with Block Printing By Hand:

To make their block printed fabric, each design is traced onto a wooden slab, which then is carved by hammer and chisel into a printing block. The block is then printed meticulously by hand using soft, AZO-free, non toxic pigment.

Variation in printing & color are hallmarks of hand block printing and dyeing in small batches.

Care:

Machine wash cold gentle cycle with like colors.

Lay flat to dry or tumble dry low.

Iron on appropriate setting if needed.

More About Block Shop:

Block Shop was founded by sisters Lily and Hopie Stockman in Los Angeles in 2013, built around a deep commitment to the ancient art of hand block printing in Rajasthan, India. The brand partners with nine small-scale, family-run organizations of printers, paper makers, and weavers in Jaipur — artisans who have practiced traditional textile production techniques across multiple generations. Block Shop visits their partners twice a year, maintaining direct relationships and ensuring that wages are paid at 50-100% above local market rates for piece work, and two to three times the minimum wage for monthly workers. One of their printing partners, Craft Boat, is a woman-run organization using low-waste processes for all paper products. Every piece is a collaboration between Los Angeles design and Rajasthani craft — made slowly, made well, made to last.
